The mockingbird of spook house
always wondered what he sang
to scare so many children
and cause such alarm
the grownups would look away
and talk in hushed whispers
walking really fast, dismayed
it was such a simple song
Even the cats would hunch
and dogs would woo
But the only thing the mockingbird
ever said was: "Boo"
