And then you remember you liked it. Even though it’s not the same thing it was back then, it’s still pretty f-ing tasty, and you can’t explain exactly why. You just want to tell your friends they should try this, and maybe they can explain it better." http://bobgerman.com/blog/history-repeated-delarcos-plurals-black-cat/ "I don't know what that was but I feel like something just happened." A. -Knoxville "Who is this band? It's like they reached inside of my head and played what I wanted to hear." W. -Nashville "Pretty amazing. How did they get like that ?! Thoroughly entertaining. The sound. They are a trip. Like some non regional non denominational non time or place collection of misfits who are the house band on an apocalyptic alien asteroid floating in the stratosphere." Jay Moglia -Rambling Shadows Alt Bio: "These are some of my best friends. I mean, band practice is always a fun time every week," says bassist Nathan Strejeck of The Delarcos. Formed in 2013 from another band, Dear Season, this 5 piece band features the ex-Teen Idles singer on Bass. On guitars, Kent Campbell brings the solid blues cool to Jon Hamblin's art rock fury. Mike Lastort soars and dive bombs over the tunes on tenor saxophone with reckless abandon. With drummer Wilfredo Morales holding it all together. The result is an amalgam of their influences, The Stooges and David Bowie in a knife fight surrounded by onlookers in a smoke filled backroom of a Thai massage parlor. "We weren't even 6 months old before we opened for Richie Ramone", says guitarist Kent about their second show. "It was coming down hard and there was snow everywhere", recalls saxophonist, Mike Lastort. The Delarcos bravely faced the elements and proved their mettle. Over 90 shows later and the band is going strong, playing shows in the Washington, DC and surrounding area. These shows have battle-tested the boys and connected them to the local musical tradition and culture. The band has recently released their debut album, a joint release on Punkish Records and Dischord Records. Their album, Irradiate, features punk and rock songs about life, love, loss (...Angel Wings, Spoilers) and denounces the demagoguery and dysfunction of our current body politic with the rowdy Scott Walker. Irradiate is the inaugural release for the newly founded Punkish Records with more releases on the way. Stay tuned and keep an eye on these delinquent Delarcos. RIYL: Original music the Delarcos are: Nathan Strejcek - bass, vox Wilfredo Morales - drums Mike Lastort - sax,vox Kent Campbell - guitar Jon Hamblin - guitar, vox nicorevealed on ig Gave this a spin today. Interesting no wave done in a slightly modern way. Welll executed songs and great production. Don't think many bands are around who play this kind of music. I think this band deserves a bit more recognition. https://www.instagram.com/p/C3Qp5UBN7Sf/
